OUR
STORY

We hope you enjoy reading a little bit of how we were formed.

The band was formed in 2009 under the name of Colchester and District Pipes and Drums, CADPAD.

Over the years many players have come and gone, but we have two players who have been members since the beginning and are still in the band to date they are Paul Young and Andy Millman who remained with us until his passing in 2024.

They have both served the band with diligence and commitment which is a credit to them.

It was around seven years ago that we decided to revamp the band with a name change to Colchester Pipes and Drums.

It is now our honor to become Colchester City Pipe Band,  which coincides with the town becoming a City..

We will become the new Cities principal civilian band and look forward to representing Colchester on our many travels around the UK and into Europe.

Over the years members of the band have participated in many Tattoos and prestigious events,  notably the annual commemorations of Operation Market Garden in Arnhem Holland which we have taken part in for many years.

Also members play at the Cenotaph in Whitehall London for the War Widows Association each year on the Saturday preceeding Remembrance Sunday.

We now look forward to carrying the name of Colchester City on many engagements in the future.
